Dr. Williams received both his undergraduate degree in biology and his medical degree from The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at King-Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles and completed his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UCLA/Cedars Sinai Medical Centers. Following his training, Dr. Williams joined the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine as an associate professor and the medical director of the IVF program. He then served as a professor of obstetrics and gynecology and the medical director for the Center for Reproductive Health at The University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.

Dr. Williams is the recipient of numerous teaching awards and has also been repeatedly named one of the Best Doctors in America. In 2009, Dr. Williams joined Houston Fertility Institute where he also serves as the Director of the Egg Donor Program. He is a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive endocrinology-infertility.

Q: What inspired you to become a physician?

A: My uncle was a surgeon and starting when I was an early teen I would spend a month each summer in Michigan with he and his family.  He would sometimes take me to his office and I was fascinated with what he did.   By the time I was 14, I was committed to becoming a physician.

Q: What are you most passionate about professionally?

A: Being able to evaluate each couple individually, to explain the process so that it is easily understandable, and to maintain that level of communication and caring throughout the entire process.

Q: What do you and your family like to do for fun?

A: We enjoy watching movies, water sports, skiing and traveling together.

Q: What are you passionate about outside of work?

A: I love listening to a variety of music (classic rock, classic R&B, alternative rock, jazz, classical) as well as playing music (guitar, piano).  I have also trained in Muay Thai (Thai kick-boxing) for over 20 years although now, I only train with a heavy bag (it doesn’t hit back).

Q: What most excites you about your work and the contribution you can make?

A: While helping couples to achieve their dream of having a family is very special, assisting patients through the actual process is probably the most important aspect of care.

Q: If you could tell potential patients one thing about you, what would it be?

A: I think that even more important than my level of experience would be that my primary focus is to help couples through the journey that will lead them to a successful outcome.
