Embryo adoption is now available at Houston Fertility Institute. Patients can now experience the miracle of carrying and delivering their adopted baby through this program. It is now possible to adopt embryos from couples who have completed IVF treatments and have remaining embryos they would like to donate.
Who is a Candidate for Embryo Adoption?
Candidates for embryo adoption are couples where both parties are infertile, those who have concerns about passing on genetic abnormalities, couples with recurrent failed IVF cycles or those looking for an alternative to either donor egg or traditional adoption. In most cases, this is much more cost-efficient than conventional adoption.
Embryo adoption also allows the adopting couple to experience pregnancy and delivery and also begins the adoption process “9 months” earlier than normal. The donated embryos are currently stored in a cryobank in our IVF laboratory and are readily available for adoption. At HFI, our success rates for using frozen embryos are comparable to transferring fresh embryo with our fast freezing technique called “vitrification.”
